Dear NPA members and friends,

We are hosting a live, in person CE event and dinner on Monday June 17th from 6-8pm at the Carriage House Restaurant located at 1409 S Stratford Rd in Winston-Salem. Jerry McKee Pharm.D., M.S., BCPP will be delivering a lecture entitled Effective Communication with Persons with Severe Persistent Mental Illness in the Pharmacy Setting. The objectives of this educational program are as follows:

  1. Gain an appreciation for the opportunity to positively impact individuals living with mental illness, their families, and the patient’s healthcare providers via improved communication skills
  2. Understand the importance of building mental health literacy in the community pharmacy setting in order to minimize inadvertent stigma perpetuating practices and to better understand and respond to signs of mental illness among patients served
  3. Recognize the negative impact of stigma for persons who are living with mental illness and substance use disorders
  4. Recognize that Mental Health First Aid is one evidence-based training tool which can begin a process of bending the curve in terms of minimizing stigma associated with mental illness

We have requested 1.0 hour of contact CE from NCAP for this program, accepted by NCBOP for RPh license renewal and by PTCB for CPhTs.  Unfortunately, we are not able to provide ACPE credit for renewal in states other than NC.  CPhTs will need to upload CE to PTCB.

Please rsvp by clicking on the link in this email or navigate to the events tab on our website northwestpharm.org and follow the prompts to RSVP. This is a live event, not Zoom so please try to arrive promptly at 6pm so that orders can be taken and meal service is started before the program begins

If you have not already joined our organization or renewed your membership for 2024, please visit our website and complete your registration as soon as possible so Cathy Craig-Wilder (Treasurer) and Justine Maher (CE Record Keeper) can have our membership list updated BEFORE the meeting. Annual dues are $95 for RPh, $45 for CPhT, or $25 per meeting. This year we are offering three payment options:

1) Bring a check to one of our in-person meetings

2) Mail your check to NPA, PO Box 25362, Winston-Salem, NC  27114-5362 or

3) Pay online during the membership renewal process using a debit or credit card (New for 2024!)
